Q&A with Todd Okerstrom, Director Of Personal Shopping, Bergdorf Goodman

November 28, 2012  |  XOJET Profiles

Todd Okerstrom has been on the front lines of luxury retail for 30 years, 25 of which he spent with the Neiman Marcus Group and the past eight years with Bergdorf Goodman. Today, as Director of Personal Shopping, Okerstrom and his staff routinely field calls and emails from clients traveling in the likes of Monte Carlo or the Maldives, or flipping through Vogue on their yacht. And when his client wants that dress on page 68 or texts him a picture of a pair of shoes seen on a street…

How to Throw the Perfect Spiral—or Paper Airplane

November 26, 2012  |  Aviation

The National Football League recently featured XOJET friend John Collins, also known as The Paper Airplane Guy, in “NFL Films Presents: The Spiral,” a video that explores in depth the aerodynamics behind throwing the “perfect spiral.” John applies some of the same concepts to paper airplane design, and earlier this year, he and former Cal quarterback Joe Ayoob shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest paper airplane flight with the same design featured in the video. (XOJET co-sponsored that event.)

Want to learn how to make the same paper airplane? See a video…

November 20, 2012  |  XOJET Profiles

With his 20 years of experience in investment banking and private investing—he had tenures at Lehman Brothers, Caxton-Iseman Capital and Castle Harlan before founding Circle Peak Capital in 2002—you can be sure that R. Adam Smith knows about business travel. Yet that’s not reason why the XOJET Blog wanted to speak with him. Smith is the CEO of V&M (Vintage and Modern), a company that has not only found its niche in the highly competitive field of rare collectibles and art, but has also quickly become the favorite online retail…

Necker Cup Offers Tennis Lovers a Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience

November 16, 2012  |  Events

For some, the ideal tennis destination is the red clay of Roland Garros; for others, it’s the green grass of Wimbledon or a late summer’s night match at the U.S. Open. But for those who prefer something a little more private, the ideal—and most idyllic—tennis destination is Necker Island. This year, Premier Tennis Travel and Necker Island will host the inaugural 2012 Necker Cup from December 9–13 on Sir Richard Branson’s exclusive Virgin Island retreat. It promises to be the world’s most exclusive Pro-Am event. (And we have to mention, of…

International Private Jet Flights with Minors

November 15, 2012  |  Travel Booking and Tips

As the holidays approach, many of you will be travelling with kids. If your family travel plans include international flight on an XOJET private jet, there’s one document that could spell the difference between a blissful vacation and a grounded flight–but it’s not a passport (although you and your kids will certainly need that).

“If a minor child is traveling with just one parent or guardian, that adult will need to provide an up-to-date notarized parental consent form from the ‘absent’ parent authorizing the child to leave the country,” says Renee Aivaliklis, XOJET’s…

November 14, 2012  |  Private Jet Charter

As we move into the holiday season—which is also XOJET’s season of highest demand—we thought it would be useful to re-post this article from February. So, here again are our top tips for getting the XOJET flight you want during peak times.

Holidays are a great time to get away. But they’re also when we see the heaviest demand for private jet charter. That’s why XOJET and most other private aviation providers consider the days before and after a holiday or a major event (such as the Super Bowl) as “peak…

XOJET chief operating officer David Cox talked with Pimm Fox and Courtney Donohoe on Bloomberg Radio’s “Taking Stock” show about how XOJET’s fleet of Challenger 300, Citation X and Hawker 800XP jets continued flying safely during Hurricane Sandy. XOJET relied on its operations center in Sacramento, Calif., and its partnerships on the East Coast to help schedule around the “superstorm.”
