XOJET’s Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
XOJET kids had a fun-filled day during the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on April 26. More than 35 kids visited our San Francisco headquarters in Brisbane and the Sacramento Operations Center. Here’s a brief overview of the day’s activities and some of the best photos. San Francisco Headquarters
The San Francisco group started off the day taking a tour of an XOJET Challenger 300 jet at the Signature FBO at the San Francisco airport. There they received ID badges that made them officially a part of the XOJET team and had a Q&A with an XOJET Captain and XOJET CEO Blair LaCorte.
Returning to our headquarters building in Brisbane, the group toured our offices and learned about each department and its functions. After lunch, the group met with John Collins, the current World Record holder for the longest paper airplane flight, to learn and apply the theories of lift by making different types of paper airplanes with unique flight paths. The kids then met with the marketing team to design their very own XOJET advertisements. They wrapped up the day with ice cream, discussing the lessons they learned.
Sacramento Operations Center
The Sacramento group also kicked off Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day by receiving XOJET ID badges plus their very own flight manuals, the same ones our pilots used before moving to iPad-based Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs). They had breakfast with the Client Service team and XOJET COO Dave Cox before, then toured MCC Operations Center, where they were able to climb inside an XOJET Citation X and the San Jose Shark‘s private Boeing 727!
Afterwards, the groups rotated through four different workshops. With HR, they learned the importance of staying in school, professionalism and interview techniques. The on-base Fire Department led a workshop on aviation fire Suppression and safety and gave a tour of their facilities. The Crew Scheduling and Client Services departments showed kids the importance of good communication and planning by scheduling a virtual trip to Disneyland. The Maintenance team taught the group about aerodynamics and how it applies to flight through a paper airplane-making contest. The kids wrapped up the day by turning in their ID badges, where they logged the day’s activities for some XOJET goodies and ice cream!
Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day gave XOJET employees a chance to share their passion for aviation with their kids. One parent said, “I got to show my daughter that there’s much more to XOJET than flying airplanes and how much fun we all can have from time to time. It was really important to show her that people should be really happy at their workplace and chosen profession.” As for the kids, many said they couldn’t wait to go back to school to share their experience with their classmates. With such enthusiastic responses, we can’t wait for next year!
